For over 800 years, the Carmelite friars have responded to God’s call in Britain and worldwide, and have provided a valid response to the needs of an ever-changing world. The Order seeks the face of the living God not only in prayer and fraternity, but also in service. The National Shrine of Saint Jude is one part of the Carmelite service to God and His people in the British Province.
Since 1955, the shrine has been a centre of devotion to Saint Jude in the UK. The extent of this devotion arose out of the work of its newsletter, Carmelite News, and today remains an important communication link between the Order and its supporters.
Through the contributions of those devoted to the Apostle and to the Order of Carmelites, the Shrine has supported the presence and ministries of the Carmelite Friars in Great Britain, and the great work of the Missions around the world.
As mendicant friars (begging brothers) we depend entirely on the providence of God shown through the support of God's people, and we pray daily for our benefactors. Please remember us when you pray. May God, who is never outdone in generosity, through the intercession of Saint Jude, bless you for your kindness.
