One of the most important documents produced by the Holy See in the last thirty years, the Catholic Church's General Directory for Catechesis is a vital working tool for all those involved in her mission to announce the Gospel. Since 1971, when the CTS published the first General Catechetical Directory, important new realities have emerged and a wealth of new material has been produced by the Magisterium, providing fresh insights and objectives for the Church's catechetical ministry. This important new reference book takes all these developments into account, including the updated Catechism of the Catholic Church, and the reflections by the General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on Evangelization in the Contemporary World. It seeks to incorporate to catechetical work since 1971, including the large body of writing by Pope John Paul II on this most important subject.
