The Handicapped Children’s Pilgrimage Trust (HCPT) was established in 1956 by Dr. Michael Strode (b.1923) to take children with disabilities on pilgrimage to Our Lady of Lourdes shrine in France. For the children, it was to be more than a pilgrimage but also an enjoyable holiday as well. Today, the HCPT still operates on those principals and has grown to become the largest pilgrimage operator catering for up to 2,000 children annually aged from 7 to 18 from Britain and Ireland. This badge was designed by wood-engraver, Alan Taylor.
