Description
The purpose of this book is to offer ordinary people the opportunity to anticipate what they are going to hear in the Collect and the scripture readings on any given Sunday. It is not primarily for priests (unless they want to use it) and its definitely not hints for homilists. The hope is simply this: that those who would like to have some idea of what they are going to hear at Mass will read the appropriate notes for the Sunday, hoping that, with the modest preparation, they will be enabled to listen with more understanding and retain more easily some of the ‘richer fare’ provided for us at ‘the table of God’s word’. The prayer in the Divine Office will then seem more authentic: ‘Praise to you, Lord God, for the table of your word to bring us light and joy’.
